A second chance, in Bogura.
In January 2026, a team led by Prof. Dr Abu Zafar Mohammad Saleh at the TMSS Bone Marrow Transplant Centre performed northern Bangladesh’s first-ever bone-marrow (stem-cell) transplant — saving 60-year-old Md Mizanur Rahman, who had almost lost hope.
Two lives, separated.
At Dhaka Medical College Hospital, a 24-member team separated conjoined twins Tofa and Tahura — 10-month-old sisters from Gaibandha joined at the waist — in the country’s first such successful surgery.
A gift after death.
Bangladesh’s first cadaveric organ donation led to the country’s first kidney transplants from a brain-dead donor — renewing the lives of two women in their thirties.
